I was digging to my music/video collection and found this concert video, has been one of my fave for all times, not to mention the sentimental value of the album ….well … enough with that … have been a fans of swing rat pack from the 50’s ….. the main problem is that I couldn’t really find the recordings with a very good audio quality … the only original recordings that I have found until now is mainly remastering the old one with “digital remastering” label in the cover … but still the audio quality is close to the original 60’s or 70’s recordings, eventough the music quality is pretty superior … have been searching for new recordings (or even with different musician), but somehow it is quite difficult …. the only recordings that I did find was made by DMP big band, but somehow I found a dead end when I tried to dig more about them in the virtual world (I found their recordings from MIRC channels few years ago), and until now, they are the closest one that meet my expectation ….. about few years ago I also found this recordings, swing when you are winning from Robbie Williams ….. skip all the history behind the album …. I really like the album … have to admit that RW is still a bit distance in quality compare to the original artist, but he made a shot and at least it is not bad at all … he has a jazzy quality and (surprisingly, considering he was an ex member of boyband) fair quality of vocal … however, the music is amazing … steve sidwell really made a good job with the arrangement ….. so in general, it is a one good package … I find RW is better in this kind of genre compared to buble … his pitch control and the interpretation of the song (or he only faked it, I don’t know) is somehow better than buble … I found buble (more than three times) is sometimes a bit pitchy during the live performance (or my ear is not correct .. possibly) .. … but however, I have to be satisfied with buble for now due to the fact that since swing when you are winning album, RW never find his way back to the swing music anymore ….. so yaps ….. also have to be satisfied with buble’s concert for now … and perhaps, I should indulge my musical taste with north sea jazz festival (dan semoga saya bisa menemukan orang untuk diculik buat nonton … hehehehehehe…)
